The Go Green Award is based on extraordinary performance related to sustainable environmental practices, commitment to environmentally friendly practices, devoted time and energy to improving the quality of life on the Main Line. “Companies are stepping up to confront environmental and energy cost reduction issues and we are honored to be working together with local businesses to create more sustainable business models on the Main Line”, states Charlie Szoradi, founder and president of GREENandSAVE and LED Saving Solutions. The award ceremony will take place at the Chamber’s Celebration of Business Leadership Luncheon on June 16, 2011, 11:00 am at The Desmond Great Valley.
Founded in 2007, GREENandSAVE LLC and its sister company, LED Saving Solutions, serve commercial and residential markets with energy efficiency, high performance LED lighting retrofits, and training in the green economy. Dedicated to helping the local community grow stronger, strengthen the green economy, and serve as better stewards of the environment, GREENandSAVE/LED Saving Solutions have identify ways for businesses and homeowners to save money while being green.
Paving the way, GREENandSAVE/LED Saving Solutions LED manufacturing team brought the production of their LED tubes from China to Boyertown, PA. The company was one of the very first businesses in the U.S. to retrofit their office with linear ‘tube’ LEDs. On July 4th, the day after installation, they declared ‘Energy Independence Day’. For Braxton Animal Works, their first local LED client in Wayne and one of the original founder members of the Main Line Go Green Committee, GREENandSAVE will save the company over $240,000 and over 3 Million lbs of CO2 over the life of the LED lights.
In addition to using E-Fax to reduce paper and recycled paper for printing, paper towels, and toilet paper, their office is located within a three minute walk of the Devon R5 Train Station to reduce the CO2 pollution for commuting for interns, clients, out of town strategic partners, and employees.
Charlie Szoradi, founder and President, is an Architect by trade, with LEED AP and BPI certified. His home in Wayne is one of the most energy efficiency homes in the U.S., which he kindly opens it up to the public for fund-raising events for the Chamber and other non-profits. “At GREENandSAVE/LED Saving Solutions, we see the new green economy as the future for America and see the Main Line of Philadelphia as one of the core areas in the transformation”, states Mr. Szoradi.
Mr. Szoradi and his staff are active members of the Main Line Chamber’s Go Green Committee, which was founded in 2008 during the early growth of the clean and renewable energy sector. Under the leadership of Roderick Wolfson, president of Wolfson Architect the Go Green Committee is moving to a higher level of prominence as a vital link between the green economy and the greater business community. ”The Main Line Chamber of Commerce is an excellent network that can break down the barriers keeping many companies and institutions from implementing more sustainable measures. We are providing events where business people can get to know green service and technology providers. We are also promoting members’ green initiatives. Going green is a way to distinguish ones business from the competition,” says Mr. Wolfson. Main Line Chamber of Commerce green businesses include architects, solar energy firms, and energy auditors. It also includes a range of non-building related green businesses including a make-up artist, a photographer, public relations professional, and a cemetery.
Many of the Go Green Committee members are also active in other environmental groups in the area; however, they focus on the Main Line Chamber of Commerce because in the Chamber they have the opportunity to get their message out to the 1,100 member firms. The Go Green Committee is a great resource for both businesses looking to improve their sustainability and green businesses.
