LED Saving Solutions Helps Shine a New Light on Healthcare
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Hospitals and other health care centers are eligible for LED Saving Solutions’ (LSS) Healthy Lights (HL) program. Healthcare facilities may now submit applications to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds for a Phase 1 upgrade to LED lighting through LED Saving Solutions. The program is designed to jump start high performance lighting upgrades for the first 1,000 qualified facilities that apply. The size of the grant is at the discretion of the applicant but is not to exceed $5,000 or 25% of the total cost of the LED retrofit
A grant from LED Savings Solutions will reduce the cost of a Phase I lighting retrofit by 25% and will generate tremendous savings. As an example, a $20,000 LED retrofit may save a facility $15,000 a year or about $1250 a month. With this program, the initial cost of the retrofit drops from $20,000 down to $15,000 and the payback may come in the first year. The payback increases as the cost of kilowatts increases, and facilities that run 24/7 see a higher return on investment. The LED tube lights replace florescent tubes and the LED socket fixtures can replace virtually any incandescent or compact florescent socket fixture with a wide range of color temperatures. The LEDs offered by LED Saving Solutions are rated for 80,000 hours - translating to almost a full decade of light. Therefore, spending $10,000 (after rebate) to save $150,000 over the life of the LEDs would have a 100% Return on Investment (ROI).
Return on Investments for Healthcare facilities have varied from 10 months to 4 years, depending on the type of upgrade and the area being targeted. Why Now?
According to the Department of Energy, America uses 25% of the world’s power with less than 5% of the world’s population. Almost half of the power consumed is for buildings (homes, offices, schools, hospitals, stores, hotels, restaurants, etc.) which consume about $180 Billion in energy annually. The healthcare sector is comprised of 1.865 billion sq. ft. (figures taken from DOE) throughout the U.S. and has one of the highest annual kWh usage per square foot. Healthcare Facilities have a lot to gain from LEDs. The 24/7 usage in most hallways and rooms is the perfect scenario for LEDs to show why they are so efficient. With a 4’ LED tube from LSS in operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, they will last 80,000 hours or roughly 10 years. The instant-on capabilities also are an important factor in situations where seconds matter. Where traditional fluorescent tubes may take a few minutes to power on, LEDs will give their full lighting capacity instantly.
“This grant program is about rewarding the hospitals and healthcare facilities who have helped our communities over the years. This program introduces a simple and measurable way to reduce operating costs for healthcare facilities that are facing cash flow challenges in this recession. Paradigm shifts from installing old fluorescent tubes, incandescent bulbs, or metal-halides to new LED lighting require breaking the muscle memory and a lot of preconceptions about the technology.” – Charlie Szoradi, President.

1. Air Filtration and Safety
2. Water Filtration and Safety
3. Modular Buildings and Components
4. Renewable Energy Equipment
5. Smart Meters and Control Systems
6. Specialty Equipment (subject to approval)
Application Process:
STEP 1: Apply.
Submit ‘Qualifying Documentation’ *Here*
STEP 2: Application Decision
Review Acceptance/Rejection Email (Expect up to 5 business days)
STEP 3: The ‘Test Drive’
Provide a security deposit for the sample LEDs relative to your property. This is a 100% fully refundable security deposit. The amount of the deposit is half of the cost of the bulbs and the review time is 30 days. There is no obligation to activate the Grant, but companies that wish to have the activation option must provide a security deposit payment of at least $250 for the samples by February 15 2011. LED Saving Solutions has structured the security deposit program to enable the company to measure and verify the pool of applicants for the subsequent LED retrofits by the close of Q1 2011.
STEP 4: Activate GRANT
At your sole discretion, after reviewing the sample LEDs, you may elect to activate the grant. To activate the grant, clients provide a 50% deposit on the mutually approved total retrofit program cost. The client makes the next payment of 25% only after the 100% satisfactory delivery of the LEDs. This payment is due net 15 days from the approved delivery.
